Our perspective on this property

Sadashivgad Sea View Resort is a property that surprises everyone who discovers it — including guests who stumble upon it because Devbagh Beach Resort was full. Built on the remains of the historic Sadashivgad Fort on a cliff above Karwar, it offers what is arguably the finest sea view of any JLR property: the exact point where River Kali meets the Arabian Sea, seen from a hilltop at golden hour.

This is a much quieter and less expensive property than Devbagh Beach Resort right below it. The same staff manage both. The same dolphin watching. But from the clifftop, you look down on the sea and the river junction from a completely different elevation — a view guests describe as breathtaking.

If Devbagh is fully booked, Sadashivgad is the ideal alternative at roughly half the price. Rooms 10 and 12 are specifically recommended — both sunrise and sunset visible from the bed. Call us and we will request these for you.

What is the history of Sadashivgad Fort?
Sadashivgad Fort was named by Basavlingraj after his father Sadashivlingraj in 1715. Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj crossed the Kali River and conquered Sadashivgad on 21st February 1665. The fort was contested between the Marathas, the Bijapur Sultanate and the East India Company. The fort gate and walls are partly intact on the resort property.
Can you see dolphins from Sadashivgad?
Yes. Dolphin watching is included in the Hill Top Package. Guests are taken by boat on the Kali River estuary — the same tour as Devbagh Beach Resort. Best October to February.
