Our Perspective

Our perspective on this property

Dubare Elephant Camp is the most emotionally impactful property in the JLR portfolio. Nowhere else can you stand waist-deep in the Cauvery River and scrub an elephant clean while a mahout narrates its life story. That 45-minute bath is the centrepiece of the entire Dubare experience and it is extraordinary for adults and children alike.

The Mysore Dasara elephants were trained here. The Karnataka Forest Department partnered with JLR to create what is essentially a living, interactive elephant sanctuary on the Cauvery riverbank in the heart of Coorg.

River View Cottages face the Cauvery directly — guests sit on their veranda with the river in front of them. Forest View Cottages are set deeper into the moist deciduous forest — a different but equally immersive experience.

The Day Visit at Rs 2,200 is excellent for guests on a Coorg day trip. The overnight stay gives you the full experience — coracle ride, jeep safari into the forest, campfire and the elephant interaction. Do not leave Coorg without visiting Dubare.
