Kabini River Lodge

Kabini River Lodge is the crown jewel of Jungle Lodges and Resorts — and for good reason. This is not a stay you book for the room. You book it for what happens outside: the early morning jeep safari when mist still sits on the Kabini backwaters, the moment the naturalist goes quiet and points toward a tiger at the waterhole.
The property carries a rare combination — the legitimacy of a former Maharaja’s hunting lodge, the accessibility of a government-run resort, and naturalists who genuinely know their forest and love sharing it.
For families visiting Karnataka’s wildlife for the first time, this is the safest and most rewarding choice. For couples, the Maharaja Package with its river-facing private balcony is worth every rupee. For budget travellers, the Dormitory Package still gets you into the same Nagarhole forest with the same excellent naturalists.
Our honest advice: book at least 2 nights. One night barely scratches the surface. And book well in advance — October to May slots fill weeks ahead. Call us and we will help you get the right package for your group.
Best when safari priority is highest. It is the premium accommodation option and, importantly, the published package includes two jeep safaris.
Best for heritage character. A balanced choice with one jeep safari plus one boat or road safari, subject to availability.
Best for the tented-stay feel. Similar safari mix to Viceroy, so choose it for the accommodation experience rather than expecting a different forest.
Best when budget matters most. Shared accommodation and a different safari mix; compare inclusions carefully if a jeep safari is important to you.
The JLR tariff is a bundled wildlife package, not room-only pricing. Depending on the package, it combines accommodation, meals, organised safari experiences, forest entry charges and other lodge activities. If you compare only the room with a private resort's room rate, the comparison can be misleading. The better question is whether the safari access and bundled programme match what you want from Kabini.
Wildlife activities ultimately depend on forest conditions, government/Forest Department instructions, weather and operational availability. A particular animal sighting is never guaranteed, and the published package itself uses availability language for some safari types. If safari access is the main reason for your trip, confirm the current activity position and understand the applicable booking terms before payment.
Start by checking nearby dates. If dates are fixed, decide whether Kabini/Nagarhole is non-negotiable or whether the objective is a strong wildlife holiday. Private resorts around Kabini can be excellent, but safari access and inclusions are not automatically the same as a JLR package, so confirm that before booking. Another option is to compare JLR Kings Sanctuary or a different Karnataka wildlife destination according to your route and available nights.
