Our Perspective

Our perspective on this property

Galibore Nature Camp is everything that Bheemeshwari is not — and that is exactly its appeal. Where Bheemeshwari is active, corporate and adventure-oriented, Galibore is quiet, intimate and deeply immersive. Only 12 cottages mean it will never be crowded. No corporate offsites. The agenda is simple: revel in the quiet of nature and return recharged.

Named after the windy hillock Galibore behind the camp, it lies deep in deciduous forests on the Cauvery, 10 km from Sangam via a gravel forest track. Kenneth Anderson — the legendary naturalist — camped on this exact stretch and described it as a beautifully wooded spot. That description still holds.

Chops the resident marsh crocodile is a celebrity. The evening coracle ride at 5 PM is famous for Chops, who appears with great regularity as the light fades. Smooth Indian otters, grizzled giant squirrel (endangered), fish eagles and 230+ birds make Galibore exceptional for wildlife observation.

Galibore and Bheemeshwari are 28 km apart on the same river — the 2-camp Cauvery weekend is our most popular recommendation for this region. Call us.

Who Should Book This

Nature Lovers Seeking Quiet

12 cottages guarantee privacy. No corporate groups. The Kenneth Anderson literary connection and Chops legend give Galibore a distinct character that serious naturalists appreciate.

Bird Watchers

230+ species. Fish eagles, river terns, green pigeons, kingfishers, owls. The coracle at dusk gives eye-level views impossible from the bank. Grizzled giant squirrel is an extraordinary bonus.

Rare Species Enthusiasts

Smooth Indian otters (threatened). Grizzled giant squirrel (endangered). Chops the marsh crocodile. Not common JLR sightings — Galibore is exceptional for rare species.

Bengaluru Weekenders

100 km on Kanakapura road. For guests who find Bheemeshwari too crowded — the quieter Cauvery alternative at a similar price point.

2-Camp Cauvery Weekend

Galibore + Bheemeshwari — 28 km apart on same river. Nature immersion + adventure activities. Two completely different JLR experiences in one weekend.
