A Genuine Junction of Two Worlds

The sanctuary road closes overnight. Vehicles aren't allowed inside the BRT Wildlife Sanctuary between 6 PM and 6 AM. If you're moving between check posts, clear them before 6 PM — otherwise you may be turned back until morning.
How do I book a wildlife safari at BR Hills?
Safaris into the BRT Tiger Reserve are run by Jungle Lodges & Resorts (JLR) through their K Gudi Wilderness Camp, roughly 20km from BR Hills, typically twice daily — early morning and late afternoon. This is a separate booking from the KSTDC hotel near the temple, so plan for both if you want temple and safari on the same trip.
Is there a road closure I should know about at BR Hills?
Yes — the road inside the BRT Wildlife Sanctuary is closed to vehicles between 6 PM and 6 AM. If you're driving through or between check posts, plan to clear them before 6 PM, or you may be asked to turn back and wait until morning.
What wildlife can I actually expect to see?
Elephants, gaurs, sloth bears, wild dogs, and deer are commonly spotted; tiger and leopard sightings happen but aren't guaranteed. The sanctuary is also home to over 250 bird species, making it a genuine birdwatching destination even without a tiger sighting.
