About Vedantikala

Founded by Dr Krishna and the Foundation Members, and inspired by the timeless values of Sattvik Brahmins and Śrāvaka Jains, Vedantikala is a pure vegetarian, Jain-friendly sanctuary spread across 7.5 acres in the hills of Chikmagalur — 12 km from the town centre and 17 km from Mullayanagiri Peak, Karnataka's highest point.

There are no gurus to follow and no prescribed paths here — only the gentle presence of nature, silence, and space. Guests move between two room categories, Majestic Mountain View Rooms and Premium Nature View Rooms, each with a private lounge, along a 1.2 km private nature walk threaded through coffee estates and quiet meditation points.

The resort has been recognised with multiple awards since 2023, including the APAC Awards 2024 for Best Nature Resort in South Asia and the LUXlife Resorts & Retreats Awards 2023 for Best Spiritual Nature Retreat in Karnataka — recognition for a philosophy of hospitality built on Sattvic values as much as comfort.

The name itself carries meaning: Vedanta (from Veda, the sacred scriptures, and anta, "culmination") refers to the essence of Upanishadic wisdom, while Kala means art or expression. Together, Vedantikala translates to "the art of embodying the essence of Vedanta" — a philosophy reflected throughout the property, from its Sattvic kitchen at VIMANA restaurant (overlooking Mullayanagiri and Baba Budan Giri) to the all-day Swami Vivekananda Library Café.

Solo travellers & quiet workations

Confirmed solo-traveller friendly, with dedicated per-room WiFi and a peaceful setting suited to unplugging or working quietly.

The Indoor Ganga Holy Dip Pool

Officially the Gangotri Ganga Jaal Infused Holy Dip Pool, this is not a conventional swimming pool but a space for sacred immersion — 4,000 litres of authentic Ganga Jaal, brought respectfully from the source at Gangotri in the Himalayas. Available by prior booking for a 30-minute session (₹1,000 per adult), it is designed strictly for adults seeking inward reflection; a life jacket is compulsory, and children are not permitted. Guests describe it as one of the most memorable, meditative parts of their stay.

The Chakra Walk — 11 Sacred Power Centres

Threaded through the 1.2 km Chakra Walk, inspired by Shinrin-Yoku (forest bathing), Vedantikala's own site describes eleven distinct sacred points along the trail: the Ganga Magic Wishing Well (chanting OM, with 33 wishes reported fulfilled), the Gita Chakra (soft chants of the Bhagavad Gita), the Whispering Tree, the Healing Love Frequency point by the Ganesha Kaveri Stream (528Hz sound), a Kailash Mansarovar replica with a black marble energy slab, the Muni Kensho Deva "zero point" (linked to the legend of a rishi's 26-year meditation), the Living Hugging Wheel, Hanuman Sthal, and a barefoot Mindfulness Yoga Walk. Guests are invited to walk anti-clockwise first to release tension, then clockwise to welcome clarity — or simply to sit in stillness at any point along the way.

Kerala Ayurveda & Wellness Therapies

At the Sattva Sanctuary Consultation Room, ancient Kerala Ayurvedic healing is blended with restorative body massage and chakra healing massage — an integrative approach aimed at deep relaxation and energy alignment. Therapies run from 9:00 AM–12:00 Noon and 3:00–7:00 PM, are entirely prepaid, and are best booked in advance to secure a slot during your stay.
