Depart Yeshwanthpura · Deluxe AC bus · Professional guide · Official KSTDC rates
The same two sacred shrines — Dharmasthala and Kukke Subramanya — at a more accessible fare. The Budget Package covers accommodation and darshan without the premium queue advantages. For devotees who are comfortable with standard darshan queues and prefer to keep costs down, this package delivers the complete pilgrimage experience. The bus journey, the guide, and the darshan are all the same — the difference is the type of darshan ticket and meal inclusions.
Once a year, during the Vairamudi festival at Melukote, the idol of Cheluvanarayana Swamy is adorned with a diamond-studded crown — the Vairamudi — believed to have been gifted by the Mysore Maharajas. The procession takes place through the night, drawing lakhs of devotees from across Karnataka. KSTDC operates a special overnight tour for this occasion — departing from Yeshwanthpura in the afternoon, stopping at temples along the way, arriving at Melukote for the evening and covering the night procession, then returning to Bangalore early morning. It is one of those tours that exists for a very specific, very sincere purpose — and the atmosphere at Melukote during Vairamudi is unlike anything on the regular pilgrimage calendar.
Three major Karnataka pilgrimage sites that do not often appear in the same itinerary. Adichunchanagiri Mutt, on a hilltop in Mandya district, is one of Karnataka's most influential Veerashaiva mathas with a large following across the state. From there the tour heads west to Gokarna — one of India's seven sacred towns on the Konkan coast — where the Atmalinga is enshrined in the Mahabaleshwara Temple. The final stop is Sirsi in Uttara Kannada, home to the Marikamba Temple where the goddess Marikamba draws enormous crowds during her biennial festival. This package suits devotees who want to combine a hill mutt, a coastal Shaiva shrine, and a regional goddess in one journey.
The Renuka Yellamma Temple at Saundatti (Savadathi) in Belagavi district is one of North Karnataka's most revered goddess shrines, drawing pilgrims from across northern Karnataka and southern Maharashtra. The presiding deity is Goddess Renuka Yellamma — a powerful and deeply personal goddess for lakhs of devotees. The circuit includes Belagavi city's sightseeing and Gokak Falls — Karnataka's own Niagara, a broad horseshoe-shaped waterfall on the Ghataprabha River. This is a less-travelled pilgrimage package that offers a genuine glimpse of North Karnataka's devotional culture.
