Edakal Caves are natural rock formations on Ambukuthi Hills (1,200m) in Wayanad containing prehistoric engravings and pictographs dating back over 6,000 years — among the oldest rock art in India. The caves are reached by a scenic 45-minute trek through forest. They depict human figures, animals and symbols from the Neolithic and Bronze Age periods.

Banasura Sagar Dam is India's largest earth dam (2,223 metres long) and the second largest in Asia, built across the Karamanathodu tributary of the Kabani River in Wayanad. Set against the dramatic Banasura Hills, it offers boating and stunning views. The dam is named after the demon king Banasura of Hindu mythology who is said to have performed penance on these hills.

Doddabetta (meaning "Big Mountain" in Kannada) at 2,637 metres is the highest peak in Tamil Nadu and the highest in the Nilgiri Hills.
