Day 1 opens with Tipu Sultan's Daria Daulat Bagh palace at Srirangapatna, Chamundi Hills, Mysore Palace (Amba Vilas) — the third most visited monument in India — and the evening Musical Fountain at Brindavan Gardens, KRS. What is Daria Daulat Bagh at Srirangapatna?
Daria Daulat Bagh (Palace of the Wealth of the Sea) is Tipu Sultan's summer palace at Srirangapatna, built in 1784. It is a masterpiece of Indo-Islamic architecture with vivid mural paintings depicting the 1780 Battle of Pollilur against the British. The nearby Gumbaz is the mausoleum of Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan.

The tour runs year-round. The season (April to June) has three departures per week (Mon/Thu/Sat) and is the peak Ooty and Kodaikanal tourist season with the best weather. October to February is pleasant at both hill stations, with fewer crowds. Avoid the peak monsoon (July–August) when the ghat roads can be difficult.
