Our Perspective

Our perspective on this property

Gopinatham is the most remote of JLR's five rustic camps — tucked into Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary right on the Karnataka-Tamil Nadu border. It's also the one with the richest set of included activities: trekking, cycling, kayaking, a pedal boat, a kids' play area and indoor games are all built into the base package, which makes it a genuinely good option for families, not just wildlife enthusiasts.

The standout nearby attraction is Hogenakkal Falls, about 13 km away, where a coracle ride is the highlight for most guests — though it's an extra-cost add-on, not included in the stay. JLR itself notes an interesting quirk worth knowing before you book: the camp's own setting is at its best in the monsoon, when the dry forest turns green, while Hogenakkal is better visited post-monsoon. If you want both at their best, that's worth planning around.

This is still a basic, rustic camp — no AC, no pool — and it's genuinely remote, so we'd recommend a 2-night stay if you're travelling from Bengaluru, which also gives you time to properly visit the falls. Call us and we'll help you plan the logistics.

Who Should Book This

Families

Kids' play area, kayaking, pedal boat and indoor games are all included — more family-oriented inclusions than JLR's other rustic camps.

Hogenakkal Falls Visitors

At 13 km away, this camp is a practical, characterful base for a Hogenakkal trip, with a coracle ride as the highlight.

Wildlife & Safari Enthusiasts

Optional wildlife safari (extra cost) inside Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary, alongside coracle rides and nature walks.

Monsoon Travellers

Unusually for a Karnataka wildlife camp, this one is at its best during the monsoon — a good pick if you're specifically looking for a green-season trip.

Not For Luxury Seekers

No AC, no swimming pool. This is also JLR's most remote rustic camp — plan extra travel time and, ideally, a 2-night stay.
